You don’t see many rock opera spectacle these days.  In fact you never saw many of them to begin with but in this day and age they are basically extinct with the exception of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.  Thanks to Tobias Sammet and his super group of guest musicians in the form of Avantasia we can always be assured we are going to get a healthy dose of Euro rock opera every few years.  Well the year of 2016 unleashes Avantasia’s ‘Ghostlights’ which has a whole slew of guest musicians from Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Marco Hietala (Nightwish, Tarot), Michael Kiske (Helloween) to just name a few.  Continue reading Music Review: Avantasia CD: Ghostlights →

Tobias Sammet’s AVANTASIA To Headline Rock Of Ages Festival

Having played sold out venues all over Europe on the first leg of their Mystery World Tour, German composer and vocalist Tobias Sammet’s AVANTASIA are about to kick-off the festival season, and have been announced for another appearance. On July 27th the band will headline the Rock Of Ages festival in Rottenburg-Seebronn, Germany.

AVANTASIA – ‘Sleepwalking’ Video Debuts

Today (March 22nd) the new AVANTASIA single ‘Sleepwalking’ has hit online stores for downloading.

Leader Tobias Sammet and the band have also shot a video clip for the track which was shot in a magical forest in Germany on a snowy winter‘s night. Tobias comments: “It was far below freezing. And there we were, standing in the snow storm for hours, walking through a haunted forest. It felt a bit like Sleepy Hollow meets Brothers Grimm, but the pictures that came out were really great and compensated for the torture.”
