So day two of Sauna Open Air opened with cooler temperatures for which my skin is thankful!!  On paper, day two of the festival didn’t seem to have as strong of a line up as day one but as I watched the bands throughout the day I found myself being surprised by a few  and in a good way.  I will still say the first day had the stronger line-up but I think for the best performance from a band for the entire festival came from Sabaton who totally annihilated all in their path this night. First of all, don’t get freaked out by the pictures. I didn’t have proper camera with me plus didn’t have a permission to photo, so the pictures are taken with Samsung Galaxy S2 from wherever I was standing at the moment.

I had had a perfect Friday going on already, but it got a lot better (yes, this is possible) as I went to Pakkahuone at Tampere to enjoy a total metal blast show. The bands of the night were Spanish thrashers Angelus Apatrida, Finnish Nicole and Swedish mathematical masters Meshuggah. Kamleot will also be touring North America this fall in support of Silverthorn. DELAIN and EKLIPSE will be opening all shows.

“We are really looking forward to getting back on the road for our headline shows in the US and Canada, along with great support acts Delain and Eklipse, this tour will be something very special,” adds Kamelot’s Thomas Youngblood.

On a recent Kamelot European Tour, Delain proved to be a great addition as special guests, Delain’s Charlotte Wessels added: “It has been way too long since our last tour with our friends in Kamelot! We’re hugely looking forward to joining them on tour this fall, and we’re hugely looking forward to meeting YOU on the road rocking the US!”

In addition to Delain comes the German quartet Eklipse, whose unique style and musical approach rounds out a very diverse and stunning line-up.

For fans hoping to get a little more involved, the band will be offering up VIP packages at several of the tour stops. The VIP experience includes early entry to the show, a meet and greet with the band and an autographed commemorative poster.

OVERKILL Unable To Continue Tour With TESTAMENT, FLOTSAM AND JETSAM

“Due to (vocalist) Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth’s ongoing bout with pneumonia, we have regretfully decided to cancel the remainder of our shows on The Dark Roots Of Thrash tour,” commented OVERKILL in an official statement.


“Blitz’s condition has gotten slightly worse [after Saturday’s show in Worcester, Massachusetts] and he needs some time to get back to 100%. We would like to thank TESTAMENT for a great tour and look forward to everyone back on the road soon. After some time for recovery, we’ll be back out in the spring for our Scandinavian tour. See you then!”

Overkill are gearing up for their first Scandinavian run in a long time, also including several dates in Finland where the band hasn’t really toured in almost 30 years.

Commented the band: “Well the wait is over….we are finally coming to Finland to do our first tour in almost 30 years of touring thru Europe and we could not be more psyched! We have done the Tuska Festival twice before and the crowds there were always tremendous. We are really looking forward to the entire Scandinavian tour and will be pulling out a bunch of old tunes as well as the new! See ya on tour!”
