Whoa!  Talk about a kick in the ass ‘Sword Songs’ is!   Grand Magus’ new album really delivers a package of metal music that is fresh, vigorous and fist pumping in a way that is a step above their previous album, ‘Triumph and Power’.  For me,  a new fan of Grand Magus who just got into the band with their last album, ‘Sword Songs’ in my opinion not only builds on the strengths of ‘Triumph and Power’ but addresses a few of the weaknesses  I thought that album had as well. Backyard Babies from Nassjö, Sweden have awoken from a few years hibernation and have put out their seventh LP and made a tour, which has now arrived in Finland with four shows. I easily remember the year 2003 and the Stockholm Syndrome album and a couple of songs playing repeatly on a MTV channel, though I never turned into a fan at that time. Thanks to my girlfriend I went to see their comeback tour, which was easily one of the best decisions I’ve made lately. Continue reading CONCERT REVIEW: Backyard Babies; Jyväskylä, Finland 2016
