IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson went head-to-head fencing Norwegian Olympic silver medal winning Bartosz Piasecki in Oslo this last week.

Although he was defeated, Dickinson told Aftenposten.no, “for me fencing is training I gave up competing in tournaments when I was 23, at that point I was ranked number 7 in Britain. I fence because I enjoy it, and the by-product is that I end up getting in reasonably good shape. Actually fencing is very similar to the way I run around on stage. Or maybe I run around on stage like that because I fence. Either way it works for me.” Continue reading IRON MAIDEN’s Bruce Dickinson Duels Olympic Fencer Bartosz Piasecki; Video

IRON MAIDEN Drummer Nicko McBrain – “Music Is Very Therapeutic And Can Help Heal All Kinds Of Ailments”

Florida’s SunSentinel has issued the following report from Mary Thurman Yuhas:

When IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain isn’t on the road, he calls Boca Raton home. About eight years ago, through friends at a golf tournament, he was introduced to HomeSafe, a Lake Worth-based nonprofit that helps victims of child abuse and domestic violence.

“I fell in love with the whole organization,” McBrain said. “I had a wonderful childhood growing up in North London, and I think every child deserves to have caring people around them to nurture their abilities and help them go out and have a fulfilled life.”

McBrain hosted HomeSafe’s recent Classic Rock & Roll Party fundraiser at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood. About 375 people attended, and the event raised more than $340,000.

“We only hold two fundraisers a year, and this fundraiser is extremely unique,” said Matthew Ladika, HomeSafe’s CEO. “It’s a jam session and a rock party that breaks out into a fundraiser.”

Video: IRON MAIDEN Singer Speaks At CONNECT2BUSINESS 2013 Conference In Sweden

Brice Dickinson of British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN was the keynote speaker at the Connect2Business 2013 conference earlier today (Tuesday, March 19) in Stockholm, Sweden.

A short video clip of Bruce‘s speech can be seen below.

Dickinson is the lead singer of IRON MAIDEN, a commercial pilot, business angel, entrepreneur, creative business thinker and international fencer. Bruce was a pilot and marketing director for Astraeus Airlines, which went into administration and is in the process of coming out of liquidation. In addition, Bruce has government funding to create an aircraft maintenance company creating 1500 jobs in Wales.

Bruce is involved in an air ship venture to manufacture lighter than air drones with a contract to supply the U.S. Army. He is also setting up a separate training company (Real World Aviation) to train future pilots.

Bruce left IRON MAIDEN in 1993 in order to pursue a solo career, his passion for fencing and an interest in becoming a pilot. Bruce rejoined the band in 1999 and has gone on to release four albums; despite this, he hasn’t stopped flying Boeing 757s.

Bruce is very keen to speak on his projects tying it in with business start-up, entrepreneurship and business creativity. In addition, he is willing to talk about the parallels between his music and business careers. He is also able to deliver team building experiences focused around his flight simulator.
