Rome In Monochrome announces a new album

Italian metal act Rome In Monochrome announced their debut album ”Away From Light”, which will be out on March 16th via BadMoodMan Music / Solitude Productions.

Solitude productions stated: Rome In Monochrome is doom, shoegaze, slowcore and postrock, a triumph of resignation and isolation, an austere mask to hide the absolute life’s nonsense, a photo album full of blurred landscapes of abandoned hearts: elegant, intimate rituals of self-descent, facing ghost feelings and painful memories.

Interview: Fankaz

Fankaz is hardcore/post-punk band from Italy which have released their new album under the name of ‚’Seities’’. You can read below an interview I had with Ricky (vocals and guitar) about the new album, past releases also and other Fankaz plans.

Hi Ricky, how’s going? Before, as the readers to know, tell the little history when Fankaz was founded.
Hi Carla, I want to thank you for this little interview! Fankaz was founded in 2003 by me, Pole and Mora. We met at high school and since the beginning we wanted to play punk rock. Fankaz ia a word in dialect that means “do nothing” and for us it was the best word at that time. Elio joined to the band in 2009 after the recording of our first album “Slow Victims for Fast Predators”. Our second album “Burning Leaves of Empty Fawns” was recorded in 2013 and now our new album “SEITIES” is ready to burn the ears of the world.

You’ve released the third album entitled ”Seities”, out via WormHoleDeath records, but tell me when did you start to write this album?
”Seities’’ is a very instinctive album, we decided to write new stuff during 2015 and in march/april of 2016 we recorded all the songs at Titans Lab studios. It was really strange for us because we have always been very slow during the writing process but not this time. We put all the anger and frustration in this album and it was  a very liberating process. And to be precise the album is out via Too Loud records, my newborn label, Overdub Recordings and WormHoleDeath records.

What is the musical direction and the theme of the album?
It’s the most direct and concrete, introspective and personal. I put a lot of anger and aggressivness in these lyrics and I decided to use more screaming vocals this time because we wanted a more hardcore sound.  We wanted to talk about our life, our city, our friends and everything around us. A lot of personal stuffs.

Do you compare the sound of ”Seities’ to be different than the previous Fankaz releases?
Yes, because this is a modern hardcore album, but you can find a lot of similarities with the previous album. In particularly the guitar parts with a lot of open chords and technical stuff. There are a lot of scream and less melodic lyrics, but in the end this is a natural evolution of our sound.

Interview: Rome In Monochrome

Interview about Rome In Monochrone, a doom/dark metal band from Italy. Gianluca, the guitarist of the band, had the time to answer my interview.

Hi Gianluca, nice talking with you again. First time we had an interview about your first band Degenerhate, it looks like you are active in a second band aswell, Rome In Monochrome. When this band was formed?
Hi, my pleasure. RIM was born in 2013 as a solo project: I needed to explore a different approach to music, not so “straight and in your face”, you know. I had some sounds, had an instrumental piece and was trying to give them a form. I thought it would be cool to involve my friend Valerio (the vocalist at that time also guitarist) who was involved in To the End, Post Ghosts and Grn projects (slowcore, post metal, post rock in the same order) to have a different approach to songwriting, not so influenced by metal. He was glad to be in RIM and started to write lyrics and full songs. When we joined, we noticed that RIM had become a band, that we had a full repertoire and so recruited the other members.

You have debuted with ”Karma Anubis” last year, an EP. Tell me about it.
It’s a three songs EP available only in digital (we are looking for a label to release it physically, so contact us!), it’s psychedelic, dark, intimate and gentle but also cruel and hopeless. It’s a little universe and we love it.

Interview: Arsenic Unbirthday

Interview with Marya Mellow, vocals of the Post Alternative rock band, Arsenic Unbirthday.

By Carla Morton

Hi Marya, how are you?
Hi Carla, it’s all fine, thanks!

When was Arsenic Unbirthday formed?
Arsenic Unbirthday was born over ten years ago by two permanent members (Nick and I) and the other two that have joined the band over the years.Emmanuel, the bass player, is a key part of the band for a very long time, while Alessio has joined us only recently, but with a truly innovative contribution. So now I think I can say that in fact the current Arsenic are newly formed, in a sense… in a perfect, electrical and fraternal harmony. But I think that what we are now is the result of everything that comes also from our past.

This year you have released the EP via Epictronic records, ”Ravens and Writing Desk”. Tell me about it.
“Ravens and Writing Desk” contains words, music and arrangements that are so connected through the feelings, thoughts and emotions of each of us. It all started with a sound, a phrase, a vibration… and comes to life through the intimate communication of this strength and fragility. It’s like a long journey into our deepest fears, coming to life to be freed, but also exorcised… This music speaks about us, not the other.
