Video: IRON MAIDEN Singer Speaks At CONNECT2BUSINESS 2013 Conference In Sweden

Brice Dickinson of British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN was the keynote speaker at the Connect2Business 2013 conference earlier today (Tuesday, March 19) in Stockholm, Sweden.

A short video clip of Bruce‘s speech can be seen below.

Dickinson is the lead singer of IRON MAIDEN, a commercial pilot, business angel, entrepreneur, creative business thinker and international fencer. Bruce was a pilot and marketing director for Astraeus Airlines, which went into administration and is in the process of coming out of liquidation. In addition, Bruce has government funding to create an aircraft maintenance company creating 1500 jobs in Wales.

Bruce is involved in an air ship venture to manufacture lighter than air drones with a contract to supply the U.S. Army. He is also setting up a separate training company (Real World Aviation) to train future pilots.

Bruce left IRON MAIDEN in 1993 in order to pursue a solo career, his passion for fencing and an interest in becoming a pilot. Bruce rejoined the band in 1999 and has gone on to release four albums; despite this, he hasn’t stopped flying Boeing 757s.

Bruce is very keen to speak on his projects tying it in with business start-up, entrepreneurship and business creativity. In addition, he is willing to talk about the parallels between his music and business careers. He is also able to deliver team building experiences focused around his flight simulator.

Legendary IRON MAIDEN Illustrator DEREK RIGGS Interviewed (Video)

The Rockin’ Rag‘s Rock’n Rolivia conducted an interview with legendary IRON MAIDEN illustrator Derek Riggs on March 16 at the grand opening of Rock Your Loxx hair salon in Oceanside, California. You can now watch the chat below.

Riggs is behind one of the most recognizable characters in all of heavy metal, IRON MAIDEN‘s mascot Eddie. He has created some of the most complex album covers of all time with precision and a painterly flair.

Riggs‘ art book “Run For Cover: The Art Of Derek Riggs”, was presented as a 180-page, full-color, large-format, top-quality art book, sporting approximately 200 graphics, some previously unpublished, some unfinished, many pristine originals from the IRON MAIDEN vaults, thanks to the full cooperation of MAIDEN manager Rod Smallwood and his charges. In addition, Riggs painted a stunning new Eddie to grace the cover.

In a 2012 interview with Classic Rock magazine, Riggs was asked where the inspiration for IRON MAIDEN‘s “The Number Of The Beast” artwork came from.

“The manager phoned me up and said they wanted a picture for a single cover that was about the devil and witchcraft and was called ‘Purgatory’,” he said. “There was a Doctor Strange comic which had some big villian with Doctor Strange dangling on some strings like a puppet; it was something I read as a child back in the 1960s, I think. The picture came to mind right away. I thought I could do a very effective heaven-and-hell thing using Eddie. Most of those hell backgrounds were taken from my knowledge of medieval European Christian art which was full of such scenes.

“They phoned me up on the Friday night and they wanted the picture by Monday morning, so I only had two days to get the whole thing finished. So I had to work for two days and nights without any sleep to get it done on time. Because of the tight deadline, I had to use a kind of shorthand for all the figures. I had to get them in but I didn’t have time to paint them. So I drew layers of black silhouettes with a pen and separated them with layers of airbrushed mist to try to give the picture some depth. It was quite a fast way to do it so I managed to get quite a few in there. I even got an H.R. Giger Alien in there as well.”

Video: IRON MAIDEN Drummer Reunites With PAT TRAVERS At ‘Classic Rock & Roll Party’ In Florida

IRON MAIDEN drummer Nicko McBrain performed with his former PAT TRAVERS BAND bandmate Pat Travers at The Classic Rock & Roll Party on Saturday, March 2 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Proceeds from the event will go to HomeSafe, a non-profit organization helping society’s most vulnerable residents — victims of severe child abuse and domestic violence in Palm Beach County and South Florida.

Founded in 1979, HomeSafe provides comprehensive programs preventing new cases of family violence, protecting victims of child abuse and domestic violence, and preparing children and families for safer, more productive lives.

Through results-based programs and highly dedicated and qualified staff, HomeSafe has grown into a leading provider of prevention and intervention services. Each year, HomeSafe serves over fifteen thousand infants, children and families.

Speaking to the Broward Palm Beach New Times, McBrain stated about how he got involved with HomeSafe: “I got involved with HomeSafe about eight years ago. Tico Torres (of BON JOVI) was actually kind of host of it, but I met him through a lady who kind of set me with the golf tournament for Tico, and then I went to the event and I just fell in love with everybody who worked there at that time. There was such a positive vibe towards the way that people were working for the charity, and then Clarence (Clemons) came on board and we hit it off, and he took me down to meet the children at the West Palm Beach home, and it tugged the old strings of the heart, so, I’ve supported it ever since. This year, obviously we lost Clarence a couple of years back, they asked me to be the host and I MC’d the event last year and I’m very honored and proud to be a part of the big event this [year]! It’s been tough, it’s been hard work, but it’s culminated in a great golf tournament and a fantastic night.”

McBrain recorded two albums with PAT TRAVERS BAND: “Makin’ Magic” (1976) and “Putting It Straight” (1977).
