Whoa!  Talk about a kick in the ass ‘Sword Songs’ is!   Grand Magus’ new album really delivers a package of metal music that is fresh, vigorous and fist pumping in a way that is a step above their previous album, ‘Triumph and Power’.  For me,  a new fan of Grand Magus who just got into the band with their last album, ‘Sword Songs’ in my opinion not only builds on the strengths of ‘Triumph and Power’ but addresses a few of the weaknesses  I thought that album had as well. Music Review: Kongh CD: Sole Creation

Music Review: Kongh

CD: Sole Creation

Label: Agonia Records

Available: NOW

Wow!  For a Doom Metal band Sweden’s Kongh seems overly energetic in their approach to the genre.  Maybe it’s all the Power Metal there?

Now don’t be fooled we still have the 10 minute plus song lengths and some traditional Death Metal stuff here with the slow plodding vocals and guitar work in the song ‘Skymning’.  Overall though, especially with the first two songs, ‘Sole Creation’ and ‘Tamed Brute’ We have tunes that musically is faster paced with catchy, trance like riffs and with vocals that are dominant and not lost in the ambience of the music. KAMELOT: Official ‘Falling Like The Fahrenheit’ Lyric Video Released

The official lyric video for the song “Falling Like The Fahrenheit” from American/German/Swedish symphonic metallers KAMELOT can be seen below. The track, which was released as a digital single on February 8, “combines everything what the band stands for: melody, epic and melancholy atmospheres, and the unique voice of the new singer Tommy Karevik,” according to a press release.

The “Falling Like The Fahrenheit” single features a special radio edit of the title track as well as the full album version.

“Falling Like The Fahrenheit” comes off KAMELOT‘s new album, “Silverthorn”, which sold 5,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 79 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s previous CD, “Poetry For The Poisoned”, opened with around 6,100 units in September 2010 to enter the chart at No. 74.

“Silverthorn” was released on October 30, 2012 in North America, October 26, 2012 in Germany and October 29, 2012 in the rest of Europe via Steamhammer/SPV. The CD marks the band’s first release with Tommy Karevik, the Swedish vocalist who previously fronted SEVENTH WONDER (a group that he is still a member of).

Tommy first appeared as one of the guest singers on KAMELOT‘s very successful 2011 Pandemonium World Tour.

KAMELOT supported Finnish/Dutch symphonic metallers NIGHTWISH on their North American tour last summer.
