Frontman Jyrki69 has checked in with the following update:

“Thanks again for the latest dear vampires – you really made the first part of our European tour the best ever! I truly think that The 69 Eyes are at our best right now; the set, shows, fans, parties, just everything! But it ain’t over baby, the next we’ll come to Russia and for a little Scandinavian tour (w/ Baby Jane):

March

2 – Moscow, Russia – Milk Club
6 – Stockholm, Sweden – Klubben
7 – Copenhagen, Denmark – Lions & Barrels
8 – Gothenburg, Sweden – Sticky Fingers
9 – Malmö, Sweden – KB
10 – Oslo, Norway – John Dee

So, get down and dirty, meet ya at the front row!”

More dates will be announced soon.

The 69 Eyes recently released the video for the single, ‘Borderline’, which was produced by Patric Ullaeus of Revolver Film Company (DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL, IN FLAMES, KAMELOT) over in New Orleans. The song comes off the band’s most recent album, X.

Singer Jyrki69 commented about the clip recently: “My favorite music videos are basically all ELVIS movies. What else you need: good music, beautiful girls and exciting location. When it comes to darkness, I think DANZIG has got it in the way I love it – always seductive vixens involved.

To make a video for ‘Borderline’, we thought to keep those mysterious “black widows” from our previous ‘Red’ video there to continue the story. And naturally to have all that fantasy elements of New Orleans and Louisiana there as well. Elvis ’56 photos, his movie King Creole, Midnight Cowboy, Easy Rider, True Blood – those were basically the links and ideas I gave to director Patric Ullaeus.

Needless to tell that he truly got all this and make this video just a modern day cult movie masterpiece. It looks like my comics (if you ever seen them) and all above! Oh, did I ever mention that Russ Meyer’s Beyond The Valley Of the Dolls is also my all time favorites…

Lords Chaz and Eric with legendary DJ Swamp, Southern belles Missus Praline, Athena, Heather and Perle, Mr. Mike Gunn and so on – there’s all these true cult stars who make this one so unique and special. With the Helsinki Vampires of course.

The 69 Eyes’ new album, X, entered the official German Media Control charts at #47. The album entered the album charts in their homeland of Finland at #4.

SUCKS! The Stupid EP cover art

Well, what can one say when you receive an email from some guys in Jersey asking you to review their ep with the words “Sucks” and “Stupid” in the title?  You say fuck yes you’ll review it because if you’re lazy, like I am, the review has a good chance of already being written for you with a title like that.  Unfortunately, for a lazy bastard like me, it doesn’t quite suck…though there is a good dose of stupid, but in a fun way.

The opening audio track of a caller calling in to a DJ with the name “Harry Johnson” complaining about the crap band Zamboni really sets the tone for the 3 song ep.  To me it’s obvious the guys here like to have fun and really when it comes to music that’s what it’s about.

From what information I was given of the band, they are a thrash/crossover band.  Crossover to what…seems to me maybe into the punk realm a bit…due to the style of the vocals and production values.  The three songs on the album are World War Z, Slaughterhouse and a cover of D.R.I.’s ‘The Five Year Plan’.  The production value of the EP aside from the opening spoof track with the DJ and Caller are very indie sounding with questionable audio/production.  Which to me is forgivable since I am assuming we have a group of guys here getting started and it kind of goes with the punk sound/style they have.

Sucks! The Stupid EP is nice little diversion to listen to if you don’t mind the indie, do it yourself recording sound it has.  The one thing I will ding it on though is the vocals.  The singer I wished sounded a little more aggressive.  He kind of sounds almost like a New Wave Singer from the 80’s…but at least a punk band from the 80’s…but I would like to see him grow a little more into a more aggressive vocal style.  Don’t go Flock of Seagulls on us man.

Otherwise, I have to give props to the guys who seem to have fun at what they are doing and the Jerky Boy Humor they have and at least it’s good to know we have more than Snooki and The Situation coming out of Jersey these days.

PSYCHOTHERMIA New Album Streaming on Metal Insider – Tour Dates Announced

Fall to the Rising Sun Available Tomorrow

Southern California’s PSYCHOTHERMIA are set to unleash their debut album Fall to the Rising Sun tomorrow. The album can be ordered HERE. In celebration of the album’s release,PSYCHOTHERMIA has teamed up with Metal Insider for an exclusive stream ofPSYCHOTHERMIA‘s entire debut album. Get a first listen to Fall to the Rising Sun HERE.

In support of the new album PSYCHOTHERMIA will be hitting the road this March. Their tour kicks off March 8th in Phoenix, AZ and is currently slated to run through 3/22 in Albuquerque, NM. The band will also be appearing at this year’s SXSW Music Festival on 3/16.

No strangers to persistence and long hours in the studio, the guys in PSYCHOTHERMIA know what it means to take matters into their own hands. Fall To The Rising Sun was self-produced and recorded in the band’s home studio (Control Volume Studios) as well as engineered by the band members themselves. With the exception of ‘Anarchy’, which was mixed by the notorious Fred Archambault (producer/engineer, Avenged Sevenfold), all the songs were mixed by guitarist Jon Russo. “I’d wake up after 15 hours in the studio, with my ears hurting, and have to go in and do it again… all while working around my jobs,” says Jon. One cannot question their dedication.

Prior to April, 2012, all four members performed together in a previous group (Canobliss). Together in this group they achieved such accolades as three nominations for San Diego Music Awards; opening performances for legends Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold, Stone Sour, HellYeah, Biohazard, & more; as well as song placements on nearly 10 extreme sports and motorsports DVDs. They have already toured across much of the United States; with a fresh project and new album Fall To The Rising Sun in their hands, PSYCHOTHERMIA is ready to catch the wind. The fire is real…
