Hello Ida, nice talking with you! How things are going?
Hi Carla! Happy to talk to you! So far so good, thank you!

Before speaking about your solo albums and the band that you are in, I’d like to tell me when your passion for music arose.
My passion for music was born the day I was born, probably, but it only showed up when at 19, with 8 year acting school on my back, I was invited to sing at the Italian TV, Raiuno. Love at first sight! Since then I cannot live without the thrill I have on stage: it’s basically my life.

Last ear you have released an EP, a solo project, under the name of ”Native Spirit”, what can you tell me about the theme of it and what response have you gotten from it from the fans and media?
Well, ’Native Spirit’ represents the bond with your roots and the return to the simple things in life such as enjoying the woods, the wild nature and feeling your spirit animal in you. All of my songs have a very deep bond to the natural elements. The response was incredible considering my label Maquette Records already reprinted the copies! The fans liked it very much, according to what the write on my fb page and they help me a lot sharing pictures or personal thoughts about their favourite songs. A large number of websites, including Mister Folk and Femme Metal made a review of Native Spirit and the ratings are way better than I thought. I could say I’m satisfied but I will never be!

To not be wrong, you have another solo album, right?
Correct, I produced and arranged my first solo album “My World Musicusic” which was completely acoustic, together with my friend and guitarist Gabriele Brisinello. Maybe one day I’ll work on a more “rock” arrangement.

You have collaborated and released an album with Cantus Lunaris aswell and you have been active this band in the past, especially in Germany…
Yes I have and thanks to them I performed in a large number of prestigious venues such as the Wave gotik treffen in 2013 and Semper memento historia in 2014. We also recorded the album “Fabula antiqua” together and it was a great experience, but we parted way and I wish them well.

Interview: Fankaz

Fankaz is hardcore/post-punk band from Italy which have released their new album under the name of ‚’Seities’’. You can read below an interview I had with Ricky (vocals and guitar) about the new album, past releases also and other Fankaz plans.

Hi Ricky, how’s going? Before, as the readers to know, tell the little history when Fankaz was founded.
Hi Carla, I want to thank you for this little interview! Fankaz was founded in 2003 by me, Pole and Mora. We met at high school and since the beginning we wanted to play punk rock. Fankaz ia a word in dialect that means “do nothing” and for us it was the best word at that time. Elio joined to the band in 2009 after the recording of our first album “Slow Victims for Fast Predators”. Our second album “Burning Leaves of Empty Fawns” was recorded in 2013 and now our new album “SEITIES” is ready to burn the ears of the world.

You’ve released the third album entitled ”Seities”, out via WormHoleDeath records, but tell me when did you start to write this album?
”Seities’’ is a very instinctive album, we decided to write new stuff during 2015 and in march/april of 2016 we recorded all the songs at Titans Lab studios. It was really strange for us because we have always been very slow during the writing process but not this time. We put all the anger and frustration in this album and it was  a very liberating process. And to be precise the album is out via Too Loud records, my newborn label, Overdub Recordings and WormHoleDeath records.

What is the musical direction and the theme of the album?
It’s the most direct and concrete, introspective and personal. I put a lot of anger and aggressivness in these lyrics and I decided to use more screaming vocals this time because we wanted a more hardcore sound.  We wanted to talk about our life, our city, our friends and everything around us. A lot of personal stuffs.

Do you compare the sound of ”Seities’ to be different than the previous Fankaz releases?
Yes, because this is a modern hardcore album, but you can find a lot of similarities with the previous album. In particularly the guitar parts with a lot of open chords and technical stuff. There are a lot of scream and less melodic lyrics, but in the end this is a natural evolution of our sound.

Interview: NoN

A second interview about NoN, an Italian dark wave band. They have released a new album entitled ‘’Sancta Sanctorum’’ which was released last year. Here is a new interview I had with Alvaro (drums) about the NoN’s new album and other interesting stuffs.

Hello and nice talking with you again Alvaro, how things are going?
Hi Carla! Glad to hear you again! Things are going pretty well, we’re actually promoting the new album and playing some shows here in Italy.

I’m saying again that you have released an amazing album, I like it a lot. Now, I let you tell me what is the story behind this album, is this a concept one?
Thanx for the nice words! It is not a conceptual one, it’s just our feelings towards the world and things that surround us, a sense of loss vs human kind and we’re getting more wiser as we’re getting older, ahahaha!

Actually, every song has a story behind…
Yes, some of them are very personal and heavy in arrangements and sound while others are more softly and melodic but with strong lyrics. What we’re really trying to do is to find hope in these dark ages full of violence, superficiality and fear. This time we had two special guests during the recording process: Luca Barachetti, who co-wrote and sang on “Sostanza”, a long track at the end of the album and Alice Chiari, a professional cello player who added “colors” to distorted guitar and bass.
