Music Review: Stereo Nasty Album: Twisting the Blade

BY:  TJ Fowler

The Irish, fist in the face, dirty metal rockers, Stereo Nasty are back with their new album, ‘Twisting the Blade’ and I have to say it has been too long…though honestly it really hasn’t been that long since their last album, the phenomenal ‘Nasty By Nature’.  I just really love this band and I am always eager to hear new material from them. BLACK STAR RIDERS Check In From KISS Tour In New Video

BLACK STAR RIDERS, the new band featuring THIN LIZZY members Ricky Warwick, Damon Johnson, Scott Gorham and Marco Mendoza together with drummer Jimmy DeGrasso (ALICE COOPER, MEGADETH), have been opening up for KISS during their Australian Monster 2013 tour. Ricky Warwick and Damon Johnson check in from the road below:

Black Star Riders recently announced All Hell Breaks Loose as the title of their debut album on Nuclear Blast Entertainment, which will be released worldwide on the following dates:

May 21st – Japan
May 22nd – Sweden
May 24th – Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Finland, Norway, Australia
May 27th – UK, France, BeNeLux, Poland, Czech Republic, Denmark, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Greece, Ireland
May 28th – US, Canada, Italy, South America

About the origin of the album title, frontman Ricky Warwick states: “I was watching a documentary about World War II bombers and saw the name painted on the side of one of the aircraft. The name just resonated with me and it seem to encapsulate the turmoil that we, as a society, are currently experiencing. The past few years have been such a wild ride and now with the release of the album, it sounded like a bad-ass album title that summed up what Black Star Riders is all about.”

Produced and mixed by the legendary Kevin Shirley (LED ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, AEROSMITH, RUSH), the track listing for All Hell Breaks Loose is:
‘All Hell Breaks Loose’
‘Bound For Glory’
‘Kingdom Of The Lost’
‘Bloodshot’
‘Kissin’ The Ground’
‘Hey Judas’
‘Hoodoo Voodoo’
‘Valley Of The Stones’
‘Someday Salvation’
‘Before The War’
‘Blues Ain’t So Bad’

The album will be released as a standard CD and also as a special edition digi-pak featuring a bonus track ‘Right To Be Wrong’ and a Making of DVD.

A 24-minute compilation of behind-the-scenes video reports from the band’s studio time in Los Angeles can be viewed on YouTube:

Confirmed festival appearances for Black Star Riders include:

June
1 – Hi Rock Festival – Inzell, Germany
2 – Hi Rock Festival – St. Goarshausen, Germany
8 – Sweden Rock Festival – Solvesborg, Sweden

On March 4, KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley was interviewed on “The Project” (previously “The 7PM Project”), the Australian talk show television program airing weeknights across Australia on Network Ten. You can now watch video footage of his appearance below.

KISS is currently taking part in an Australian tour with very special guests MÖTLEY CRÜE.

Presented by McManus Entertainment, the summer’s biggest, baddest rock tour is hitting Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Mackay and Adelaide, with guests Irish rockers THIN LIZZY along for the ride (except Adelaide).

“Monster”, the 20th studio album from KISS, sold 56,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart.

KISS‘ previous CD, “Sonic Boom”, opened with 108,000 units back in October 2009 to enter the chart at No. 2. This marked the band’s highest-charting LP ever.

KISS has notched nine Top 10 albums, according to Billboard.com. Its previous highest-charting set was 1998’s “Psycho Circus”, which debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 110,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group’s other high-charting sets include 1975’s “Alive!” (No. 9), 1977’s “Love Gun” (No. 4) and 1992’s “Revenge” (No. 6).

CD: No Offence

Available: NOW

I was recently contacted by Caravan Music Promotions asking me if I would be interested in reviewing a couple of artists for them.  One was, well I’m not sure what it was but it was definitely not for me.  The other was a Celtic punk band from Slovenia who are supposed to be similar to the Dropkick Murphys  and Flogging Molly, while also having a old world music charm and feel to their music.

So even though not metal, I told Caravan I would look into the Happy Ol’McWeasel…which for a first time…is not a nickname I have given my dick.  So did ‘No Offence’ make my Little McWeasel happy?  It sure did! Continue reading A non-Metal Music Review: Happy Ol’McWeasel CD: No Offence
