Hi and thank you for your time. Please introduce yourself and Ithilien.
Hello, I am Jerry, the drummer of Ithilien. We play folk metal, more specificly Folkcore. This is a combination of traditional Belgian (Folk) music, played   with flemish bagpipes, a hurdy gurdy, a violin  and a bouzouki and a more modern metal genre. The band was founded 10 years ago, there weere several line-up changes but the last 4 years we finally had a steady line-up after I entered the band. They already gave me some stress from the beginning because I only had 3 weeks to learn the full set and start our first tour together. By now we already have reached some major highlights with several tours in Europe and Japan. We also signed with Mighty Music for our first album “From Ashes To The Frozen Land” and now with WormHoleDeath for our new album “Shaping The Soul”. Things can only get better.

You just mentioned about the deal with WormHoleDeath records and released your second full-lenght, ”Shaping The Soul”. What is the theme of this album and the musical direction?
About the theme, we decided to write about grief. It’s something that appeals to every single person and is realistic. Basically we wanted more mature lyrics, we then based the album around the Kubler-Ross Model which is, in short, the 5 important stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. Every song of the album has its corresponding stage. The first song, ’Blindfolded’’ represents the denial, ‚’Lies After Lies’’ and ”Shaping The Soul’’ are a manifestation of anger while ’If Only’’ obviously represents the bargaining stage, ’’Edelweiss’’ feels depressing while ” The Bear Dance’’ represents acceptance. I encountered a bad moment in my life after the recordings were done with a relationship ending badly. It made me realize how the feelings were equal to what the album reflects. I never knew ’Shaping the Soul’’ would grow so much under my skin.

Hello to you Nicoletta and thank you for your time answering this interview. You’re the vocalist of Kalidia, an Italian Gothic metal band. When the band was founded?
Hi Carla, thank you so much for this interview. Kalidia born in late 2010 by an idea of me and Federico Paolini (guitars); we released a demo-EP called “Dance of the Four Winds” in 2012 and it was well-acclaimed. This result pushed us to compose new material and we released a full album (“Lies’ Device”) in 2014. During these years we shared the stage with many bands/artists like Rhapsody of Fire, DGM, Vision Divine, Timo Tolkki, Edu Falaschi, Kaledon, Silent Voices (feat. Members of Sonata Arctica).

You debuted in 2014 with ”Lies’ Device”. What feedback have you got for this album and how the recordings were going?
After the released of our demo-EP, we decided to do a full length; so we entered the “Eden Studios” and we recorded “Lies’ Device”, produced by Alessio Lucatti (Vision Divine). We recorded that album in a friendly atmosphere and we learned a lot from Alex, it was a totally positive experience. The album was self-released in June 2014 and it received a great feedback, both from fans and webzines; we gained a cool fan-base from all over the world!

DSC_0418”Before the lights go out, before our time is gone, a taste of your lips, before we go extinct”. So majestically sang Fernando Ribeiro, the singer of Moonspell, this chorus at Lutakko in Jyväskylä. This most successful Portuguese gothic metal group announced their eleventh full-length album early this year and made a very successful Road To Extinction Part 1 tour right after it through Europe. After the summer, Road To Extinction Part 2 was about to come, this time with 2 support acts with them: Dagoba from France and Jaded Star from Greece. The tour was started 23th October in Innsbruck and about two weeks later its was time for Finland. I went to see this tour in Jyväskylä, but there were also three more shows in Finland. I actually didn’t know that Moonspell had such a large fanbase in Finland that four shows were needed. But cool to know! Here is some my thought about the night.
