BLIND GUARDIAN’s full-length DVD, Imaginations Through The Looking Glass, has gone gold in Germany. “Thanks to the more than 25,000 German fans who purchased the DVD and made this achievement possible,” the band react.
A video of the gold album ceremony and a short interview with Hansi (in German only) can be seen here.
According to Wikipedia, Blind Guardian had intended to record a DVD since early 1998, however, due to the band’s high requirements, no existing metal festival had been considered suitable. Instead, the band decided to create their own festival, back in their homeland. The First Blind Guardian Festival was held in Coburg, Germany, at June 16–17, 2003. It lasted 2 days, with the band playing during both nights. The entire show has been professionally recorded and subsequently released on a DVD entitled Imaginations through the Looking Glass on June 14, 2004.

When I saw that Avantasia was due to release a new album I was immediately interested in giving it a listen as I always found Tobias Sammet to be an excellent singer(and one of the only singers I have heard to sound like Bruce Dickinson) and his other band Edguy I always thought were very talented musicians and songwriters. I had never listened to a lot of Avantasia before this so I was somewhat going in blind. So what did I get with Avantasia’s ‘The Mystery of Time’? Well it wasn’t exactly what I was expecting but it also was by no means a disappointment. Continue reading Music Review: Avantasia CD: The Mystery of Time→
“Angus McFife”, the new video from GLORYHAMMER, the “heroic fantasy power metal” project led by Christopher Bowes, the mastermind behind pirate metal sensation ALESTORM, with a desire to explore the more symphonic and epic side of metal, can be seen below. The song comes off GLORYHAMMER‘s debut album, “Tales From The Kingdom Of Fife”, which will be released on March 29 via Napalm Records. The CD, which will tell an original story based in an alternate-history medieval Scotland, where magic and dark sorcery reigns supreme, was recorded at LSD Studios in Germany. A concept of such epic proportions requires a truly talented vocalist, and for this purpose Thomas L. Winkler from Swiss power metal band EMERALD was hired to provide majestic soaring vocals. The lineup is completed by Paul Templing, James Cartwright, and Ben Turk, who honed their battle skills in various underground U.K. metal bands.GLORYHAMMER is:
