                Anyone who has ever known me, which isn’t many, knows I have never been a huge black/death metal guy.  It just was never for me.  While I liked a lot of the imagery/themes of the music, the vocals always turned me off.  So when I have an opportunity to review such bands I tend to be very selective as most of the time I roll my eyes and move to something else.  The few times I have ever heard these types of bands and enjoyed what I heard, tended to be when they incorporated some kind of catchy riff and have some semblance of listenable vocals.

So we come to Nocturnal Graves which come out of Australia of all places.  Nocturnal Graves claim to be a Death/Thrash band so due to the thrash element I was willing to give them a shot.  Thankfully what I heard wasn’t too bad.  Is it something that gives me a boner listening to it?  Well no, but I don’t go limp either.  Let’s see what we got. I don’t always get an opportunity to hear a lot of metal bands from the land down under so it’s always interesting when I get an opportunity to do so.  This time I get to listen to the band called Taberah.  Considering the Australia’s biggest export in terms of anything remotely close to a metal act is AC/DC I think it’s time someone there stepped up to the plate and deliver the newer generation of metal fans a big metal act.  However for right now I think fans are still going to have to wait awhile and be content with Kylie Minogue. The Australian thrash metallers from HOBBS ANGEL OF DEATH will hit Europe again.

Founder Peter Hobbs about this new tour: “Last year, we were welcomed with open arms in Europe and we had an awesome time, so of course there was no doubt we had to come over this year again for a European festival/club tour. Video: BLACK SABBATH Performs New Song ‘Loner’ In Melbourne

BLACK SABBATH debuted a brand new song, “Loner”, last night (Wednesday, May 1) at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia. Fan-filmed video footage of the performance can be seen below. The track is featured on the deluxe edition of “13”, the first BLACK SABBATH record in 35 years to feature singer Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi and bassist Geezer Butler all playing together, which is due out June 11 on Vertigo/Republic.
