This discussion is coming a bit later than expected, but I am a big fan of Ted Poley and really wanted to check the new release out. Some of Ted poley’s most notable music achievements are being the vocalist for the famous AOR band Danger Danger, several solo albums, and working with video game composer Jun Senoue, on theme songs for some of the sonic the hedgehog video games. Being a big fan of the sonic the hedgehog franchise, guess where I first discovered Ted Poley from. On this album Ted is also joined by Frontiers veteran Alessandro Del Vecchio, who has worked with more bands and singers that I care to mention. One of his most notable works is working with Johnny Gioeli revamping Hardline since 2012. I was fortunate to see Danger Danger performing of the same stage as Brother Firetribe at the last ever fire fest in 2014.
So what does this new Ted Poley album consist of? Everything that you would more or less expect from a Ted Poley album. This is a good thing of course. It has that classic american AOR that he’s best known for, along with a bit of a laid back feel. It also has a hint of rock opera thrown in only not quite as big. Alessandro’s styles and production can also be heard here. All you have to do is listen to his previous projects like the 2 Lionville albums and you’ll know what I mean. This is a good thing as well.
My overal verdict is that personally I do not think that this is the best work that Ted has done. But that’s not to say that this is not a good album. Since this has come out mid May, a lot of the songs will be ideal for the rock and roll summer soundtrack. Any famous AOR singer who works with Alessandro, then 9 times out of 10 it is going to be a good album. I hope Ted takes this show on the road soon.
