Interview: Masaki from Murashita

Interview with Masaki about his solo music project, Murashita.

By Carla Morton

Hi Masaki, how are you?
I’m doing great! Thanks for asking.

Murashita is your solo project, when were you founded it?
I have started this project immediately after my last band was disbanded in May, 2014.
The debut single, Retribution was released in January, 2015.

This year you have released this year the new album, ”Inescapable Damnation”. Tell me about it.
This is a record that I’ve wanted to do for last few years that features different musicians for different songs and have a good time. The title track, Inescapable Damnation features bassist David Ellefson (Megadeth) and drummer Kevin Talley (Suffocation). My good friend Rodney McGlothlin (Voice of Dissent) and Kelly Conlon (Death, Monstrosity) played bass on other songs. It was a pleasure and honor having them on this record and I definitely had a lot of fun and learned many things from them. You can definitely hear I took Hemoptysis sound into its next incarnation.

Do you have other releases? If yes, tell me a few words about them.
I have released one full-length album previously with my former band, Hemoptysis called “Misanthropic Slaughter”.

What are the lyrical themes?
Every song’s theme is based on my personal experience that I went through last few years.
This is my way to express my frustration, passion, and anger and I’m sure many people can relate to it especially the ones who are struggling and working hard to achieve their dream or goal.

Any influences?
Definitely classic thrash bands like Megadeth, and old Metallica, but I also grew up listening to other music genre. I definitely don’t want to be one dimensioned, and would like to create my own sound, and timeless music.

Any shows confirmed for this year?
Just finished my first Japan tour and played 4 dates. I’m looking to do more shows in the U.S., and other countries to promote the EP. I love being on the road and playing in front of new people and meet them!

A message for your fans and listeners?
I hope you enjoy listening to this EP. It has many catchy riffs and solos with top notch musicianship with renowned players. Thank you for your support and please spread the word if you liked what you heard.

Thank you Masaki, cheers!
Thank you! If you are a guitar player, I also do gear demos on my youtube channel at I hope to see many of you at the shows in the future!
