Interview: Through The Cracks (By Carla Morton)

Interview with Swedish metal band Through The Cracks.

Hi to all, how are you?
Hey! We are just fine.

When did Through The Cracks was formed?
Through The Cracks was formed by Jimmy Bergman last year. He has been playing in a lot of metal bands before and he’s still playing in a band called The End Of Grace. One day last year he thought he was going to start something new and unique. So he started to write songs with the old singer Tillie Grundel and they released two singles, Breathless and Marionette. Niklas joined the band in the same way when they released their track Marionette. Few months later Tillie left the band due to some personal things and Sara joined the crew instead, witch we are really happy for. Sara has an amazing voice and we thought it was a perfect match for our sound. We can’t also forget our drummer Andreas. He is a young kid with a lot of energy and when we are playing together.. it sounds amazing!

”Hateful Things” is the first release of the band. Tell me about it.
Our debut EP ”Hateful Things” was recorded and done before Sara joined the band. When Tillie left the band Sara had to write new lyrics and melodies for the songs. The EP is really emotional with some heavy rock/metal parts in it. We call it Modern Rock!

Are you going to release new materials soon?
We are working on some new tracks at this point. We are not sure if it’s going to be singles or a new album. But we will release something cool really soon! So stay tuned!

What are the band’s influences?
One of Sara’s influence is Queen and especially Freddie Mercury. But we are all listening to some Alter Bridge, Nickelback, Killswitch Engagde and more. But we are trying to get a own sound. When the first tone is playing, you should hear it’s Through The Cracks!

Any lyrical themes?
We are leaving that question to Sara!  “My moods, haha. I always write about how I feel, ’’Hateful Things’’ is about the more darker side of me, my demons and about some people that are great and some that aren’t so great. So you get it all!”

Are there shows confirmed for this year?
We have one show confirmed as we speak. It’s in Gothenburg together with a band called We Are The Catalyst. It will also be our first show since we are a pretty new band. So if you read this before the show… Take your long rock’n roll hair to Sticky Fingers 4/9 and headband together with us!

Do you have a message for the fans?
Keep on listening to our tasty tunes and come to our shows and say hi and give us a hug! Peace!

Thank you, cheers!
Thanks!  (Jimmy, Niklas, Sara & Andreas)
