Another email has crossed my virtual desk with music to listen to and review. Fatal Instinct makes statements of creating a “Neoteric Sound.” I generally dislike having to look up words when doing a music review, but here it goes. So the Neoterics were poets, Greek and Latin, who wrote about personal themes rather than epic feats of heroes.
Well, I would say that Fatal Instinct lives up to that description. The three songs I was sent for review speak to life situations and dealing with them. Lyrically the songs hold up well. The Neoteric poetry also, apparently, is characterized by tight construction, and Fatal Instinct fits the description here as well, featuring solid percussion, precise rhythms, and interesting leads. If they keep up the standards set in the first three songs Fatal Instinct will put out a fantastic first album.
