I’m very excited about reviewing this EP. It is descriped as black metal and the band is from India. I can’t miss this!
I’ve been listening to Taiwanese band Chthonic a lot. Cosmic Infusion has many similarities with the Taiwanese metalheads, even though their genres are a bit different.
Cosmic Infusion isn’t 100% pure black metal (this is my opinion), but it’s still way more black metal than for example Cradle Of Filth has been since their 2004 released album ‘Nymphetamine”. Cosmic Infusion has loads of elements of extreme and even thrash metal in it, only with more melodic or even symphonic touch.
Symphonic parts along with blast drumming and crushing guitar riffs make this EP sound very massive. 5 songs on the EP have pretty much anything in them. Drumming varies between massive and slower beats to infernal blastbeats. Vocals are mainly screaming and growling, but for example track number two, ‘Burial Of Thy Own’, has a clean vocal chorus that really gives me the chills.
Cosmic Infusion has a lot of skill to make diverse songs. I really like the combination of different genres they get here. I can honestly say this is one of the best albums I’ve heard this year. I really had no expectations with this, but it came and punched me right in my face, dragged me across barbed wire and set me in flames. Very good job!
