“It was the day new wave died and rock n’ roll took over,” Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil said regarding the overwhelming attendance on Heavy Metal Day, which set the single-day concert attendance record for the US with an estimated 375,000 people.
Quiet Riot’s Franke Banali remembers the moment: “30 years ago today on May 29, 1983 Quiet Riot performed at the US Festival on the Heavy Metal day and that day proved to be a life changing experience for Quiet Riot which I still feel today. So take a trip down memory and bang your head with Quiet Riot! Rest in peace the great Kevin Dubrow.”
