My inbox occasionally gets requests to review bands that I have no idea where they are coming from with their musical direction or ideas.  One such band I recently had the ?pleasure? to receive a message from is the all female Russian Punk band, Pincher.  After looking at the tracklisting and listening to the songs I’m left with a completely ‘What the Fuck did I listen to???’ It’s obvious the band has a unique take on things…read on if you want your mind BLOWN!

As I mentioned, the song titles here are something to behold with the stand out track title ‘A woman’s place is in the kitchen’.  Damn straight it is.  I already like how these Russian girls think.  I also hope they are good in bed too and fuck like wild animals!  I always wanted a hot Russian bride.  Anyway, I’m rambling.  Let’s talk about the music here…

‘Killing Machines’ contain 7 tracks that all except one run under 3 minutes which runs in the typical punk tradition.  The album opens with the track ‘Mortal Kombat’ which is a punk cover from the movie soundtrack…which is…interesting?  Haha.  I never heard them mention Kano though…Where is the Kano love girls???  The songs continue to play out in typical punk aggression and fashion though most songs, while they have English titles are sung in Russian or I completely couldn’t understand the singer.  So I was a bit disappointed when my favorite song ‘A woman’s place is in the kitchen’ was all in Russian.  I wanted to understand about why my women need to serve me!!!

The language barrier aside, Pincher has a sound that reminds me of a cross between the Runaways and L7 which isn’t a bad thing.  Especially for a band that describes themselves as a crossover metal band.

Pincher seems to have a good sense of humor, a good sound and good song titles. So I think they should be able to gather a solid punk following.   I hope to see on the next album a song titled, ‘The only time a woman needs to open her mouth is when she is giving a blow job.’  If I see that I will personally come to meet the girls backstage.  Let’s just hope they don’t go and start screaming in a church in Russia and get thrown in prison before I get my chance for a blow job.
